Delight In The Lord

We cannot delight in ourselves and in the Lord at the same time. If doing our own thing is the main focus of our life we will not delight in the Lord. If we do what the Lord wants us to do we will find delight in Him. If we are self-willed we will not delight in Him or even in ourselves very well or for very long. Delighting in Him gets far better results than short-sighted and short-term delight in ourselves. The greatest blessings are given to those who are the most mindful of their shortcomings and thrilled by His perfection. It is called worship. We cannot worship Him and anything else at the same time. We cannot worship His will and our own at the same time. His will is holy and ours is sinful. When we worship His will, we will do it. His will is the hardest thing about Him to worship. If we worship His will, we will not have a problem worshipping anything else about Him. If we do not worship His will, we do not worship Him at all.

Isaiah 58:13-14: If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
